A Home for Our Community
For over 100 years, SSCH has uplifted Columbus residents and their families, providing resources and opportunities when they are needed most. Here, individuals and families find the tools they need to build the fulfilling lives they desire.
Our organization has always grown and evolved to serve our neighbors’ most pressing needs. In order to continue providing the level of service our community deserves, we are launching a transformative $7 million campaign to make significant and necessary upgrades to our E. 17th Avenue building. With the completion of this campaign, we are confident that everyone we serve will have a comfortable and dignified experience. SSCH has always been a beacon of hope, and when this campaign is complete, that beacon will shine more brightly than ever.
Your generosity will make Greater Columbus Community House a true community home.

The Need
SSCH is the sole owner and operator of our 63,000-square-foot building at 1500 East 17th Avenue. While we have made minor repairs as needed, we have prioritized fundraising for new and expanded programing to help our neighbors. But small expenses add up over time. Since 2019, we have spent over $200,000 in incremental repairs to our aging building.
Recent assessments have identified elements of our building that need immediate work:
- Critical security deficiencies leave our neighbors and staff vulnerable.
- Our flat roof is in poor condition, and multiple leaks throughout the building are damaging the ceiling, walls, and floors.
- All 24 of our original rooftop HVAC units and air handlers are starting to fail, and some are not operating at all.
Our neighbors deserve a comfortable, functional, safe, and pleasant environment where they can find the resources they need. It’s time to renovate Greater Columbus Community House.

Overhauling our HVAC system will lower our energy bills and make SSCH a more comfortable environment for our neighbors and staff year-round.

Roof Replacement $1 Million
A brand-new roof will prevent leaks and decrease maintenance costs, allowing SSCH to reallocate funds to new and expanded community programming.
